Grantfork Police Department

About the Department

The Grantfork Police Department is a part time police department that was established on 1/2/1995 by the village board to serve and protect our small community.  When a Grantfork officer is not on duty, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department responds to any “in progress” calls in our jurisdiction.

As of 2024 , the police department works an average of 35 hours per week.  We currently have six part-time officers on our roster, four of whom work on a regular basis with others as needed. Our department fleet consists of two completely equipped vehicles, a 2016 Ford Explorer and a 2022 Ford Explorer.

As the result of numerous funding and equipment grant opportunities over the years, we have been able to obtain several pieces of essential equipment including our Explorer.  This enables our officers to be prepared while keeping the costs down for the village.

Our agency is a member of Southern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission (SILEC) which provides numerous training opportunities to our officers on an annual basis.  We are also a member of Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS).  ILEAS provides us with numerous training opportunities as well as mutual aid, emergency response, and the combining of resources for public safety and terrorism prevention and response.
